Kelly Clarkson- Behind These Hazel Eyes music video analysis

The narrative of the music video is Kelly Clarkson on her wedding day. She deep down knows that her fiance is having an affair so runs into an eerie forest, where she finds herself playing with a band. She is dressed very gothic along with her surroundings. It is very dark with falling leaves and mud everywhere. By the time she gets to the band her wedding dress is ripped and muddy. There is an extreme close up of her crying with heavy black make up running down her face. Throughout the video there is lightening, adidng to the gothic theme. The video has a fast pace in both the narrative and the shots. She then changes from her white wedding dress to a black dress and sings in a broken down church, surrounded by broken chairs and ripped material. At the end of the video, Kelly realises that her fiance is cheating on her and runs away. The last shot is her running the church doors into a bright light.

Linkin Park- Meteora album cover analysis

On this Linkin Park album cover for their album Meteora, it shows mild rebellion. There is a man spray painting, but you can't see what. This is unusual because it contradicts the album name. The word Meteora translates to 'the heavens above' in Greek. The place Meteora is one of the largest and most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Greece. The cover itself is in sepia, givng it a dull and dark look. It is also so the name of the band stands out more as it is written in white. It is also in capitals and very bold, with the corners being highlighed. The way in which Linkin Park is written is the same on every album cover and poster, giving the band itself individuality.

The Ramones album cover analysis

On this album cover, the band The Ramones show attitude in several ways. The most obvious being the way they are stood. With them leaning on the wall with their hands in their pockets shows clear attitude. They are all wearing jeans and leather jackets which could be seen as intimidating along with their facial expressions. They all have messy or scruffy hair which indicates that they do not care what is thought of them. The wall they are stood against looks old and quite frail. The bottom half of the wall is covered in graffiti, highlighting that the area in which they come from is urban and lower class. The band name is very bold, with the size and the font. It is also written in capitals, which makes it stand out further. It is not written perfectly with correct alinement. This is to also add to the messy look the rest of the cover has.
There is a lot of light from the picture as it is black and white. The contrast has been inceased to make their outfits and hair darker and their skin a brighter white. This could be seen as a ghostly image to add more fear from the audience.

Conventions of Punk Rock

There are various conventions of punk rock that are specifically significant. There is firstly, attitude and rebellion. In music video's the characters are often acting inappropriately, offending the other characters. They have a careless attitude, ignoring what other people say and think.

In a large amount of punk rock songs a relationship is involved. In the music video the relationship tends to be with the lead singer of the band and another character.

The videos are usually fast pace within editing and the narrative. With the constant scene changes, the audience continues to be drawn in throughout the entire video.

The characters in the video are shown to be alone, either by choice or because other people leave them out/bully them. This can be seen as either upsetting or disturbing to the viewers depending on how extreme the themes are.

Fallout Boy- infinity on high album cover analysis

On this album cover, they have created their own creature that could be seen as either disturbing or funny. It is evidently a cross between a sheep and a duck and other animals. This creates individuality for the band and makes it memorable. The name of the band looks hand written on the cover, giving it a personal touch to the fans. The title name 'infinity on high' is taken from a letter written by Vincent van Gogh to his brother in 1888 in which he describes his renewed health and the vigor it has instilled in his painting. The exact phrasing has been translated as "Be clearly aware of the stars and infinity on high. The life seems almost enchanted after all". The lighting comes from the wall, this is because stars are pasted on the wall along with a moon. The blue colour from the wall also adds a mysterious tone to the cover along with the other disconnected things on it.

Paramore- Misery Business music video analysis

The narrative of the video is a girl annoying and upsetting various people at her school. She cuts another girls hair off, pushes over a boy with a broken arm and interrupts a conversation between a girl and her boyfriend to kiss him. The lead singer of the band, Hayley Williams shows the girl up by showing everyone she stuffs her bra and wipes her make up off. This humiliates the girl and makes her look stupid.
Throughout the video the band are performing in a black room with white graffiti writing on the wall, with the name of the album 'riot!. The men are wearing matching outfits and the lead girl is wearing scruffy clothes with messy hair and ostentasious make up.
There are many close up shots of significant things in the video, such as the girls plait, the boys cast and Hayley's face. This is to outline to the audience what they should be paying attention to. Whilst filming the band playing, to add to the chaos in the room the camera is quite shakey and had very sudden movements. It often changes to black and white too, again to add to the chaos of the room, matching the album title 'riot!'.
