Filming- what we're going to do
My partner and I have planned to film on Wednesday 16th February, a lot later than the rest of the class. This is due to poor organisation skills and communication with our characters. We have booked a camera and both Nicole and I and our characters can make it. We'll be going straight after school Wednesday afternoon, so that it will still be light when we get there. We also need to film the flashbacks in a house, so we are using our friends house who lives round the corner from school, making it easy to get to and from.

Our Characters
We have decided to use Louise Davies and Jordan Reynolds as our main characters in our music video. They will play a teenage couple, who are not allowed to see eachother by one anothers parents. Louise and Jordan are already friends from school, so they will have no problem in acting together.
Louise was chosen from 3 girls, who are all exceptionally talented and all take part in Drama productions in and outside of school. Louise knows and likes the song, as she thoroughly enjoys the Punk Rock genre.
Jordan was also chosen from 3 boys, yet out of the 3, only 1 boy was a Drama student, but we chose against him because we thought Jordan's appearance suited the character and genre better.

Music Video Task
My task is to plan and produce a music video, researching into the genre of the band I have chosen to use and discover what my target audience likes to see in a music video. I have looked at and analysed many music videos and done furhter reseach into the band I have chosen.
I also have to produce a digipak and a magazine article so I am also researching those, looking at and analysing other digipaks and magazine articles from other bands in a similar genre.

What is a Digipak?
A digipak is a new format of CD packaging made of card, "digipak editions" of CD's usually have extra tracks and are limited edition. Digipak's can flip open like a book, or it can have three parts, so that one portion of the packaging opens to the right and one to the left, with the CD in the center portion.

Making a good music video
To find out what our target audience likes in music videos, we gave out questionnaires asking what they like to see, such as themes and effects. We found that not many people like to see animation and they like to have a narrative. This was good to hear as we were planning on having a narrative instead of performance anyway.
We want to make the video memorable and interesting, so we have added ideas that are different and original that we have not seen in many recent music videos. The acting had to be good, so we have chosen a girl from the A Level Drama class and a boy who doesn't do Drama at school, but thoroughly enjoys acting. We plan to have different camera shots and editing, making the video interesting and not the same as all the other contemporary music videos.

As a group, Nicole, Jordan and I we decided that the storyboard Jordan and I planned was not suitable as he is no longer in our group. Therefore, Nicole and I have planned another, which we think has better ideas and is more appropriate.

Summary of Questionnaires
From the questionniare results it is clear to see what people like seeing in music videos and what is less popular.
Only one person favoured Performance to Narrative, yet 2 people said they like seeing both. This means that in our music video, we wont put in performance, but have narrative. From the questionnaires we can see that common favoured themes were Love and Everyday Life. We have storyboarded a lovestory, hoping to please our viewers. There was a mixed preferance to Actors or Artists being in the music video, but 3/6 people said both. 5 people said they did not like animation in music videos, where as only 1 said they do. Due to this result we have decided not to use animation. Green screening was popular when asked about effects, where as CGI was not. 2/6 people said they like black and white so we may add a small section of black and white in our music video.
